Privacy Policy
The short version
Images, GIFs and webcam feeds you upload for ordinary conversion stay in your browser. If you choose AI generation, your written prompt is sent to our server and OpenAI to create a source image. Our server turns that image into ASCII; your browser receives only the ASCII result. Publishing finished artwork to the public Library is a separate action.
What we collect
- Account data. When you create an account we store your email address (and, if you sign in with GitHub, your GitHub-provided email) via our authentication provider, Supabase. We do not store passwords ourselves.
- Billing data. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status so we can unlock Pro features.
- Published artwork. If you publish to the Library, the rendered artwork, the title and the display name you enter are stored and shown publicly. Publishing is always an explicit action.
- AI generations. When you choose AI generation, we store your prompt, account ID, job status, and finished ASCII frames so you can view the result and open it in Studio. AI jobs, prompts, and results are scheduled for deletion after seven days; an outage may delay cleanup until service resumes. We retain usage counts needed to enforce trial and Pro limits. The source image exists only in server memory while it is converted; we do not put it in public storage or send it to your browser.
- Reports. If you report an artwork, we store the report with your account ID to prevent duplicate reports.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Railway) and CDN (Cloudflare) process IP addresses transiently for security and rate limiting. We do not build profiles from them.
What we don't do
- No third-party advertising or tracking pixels.
- No sale or sharing of personal data with data brokers.
- No upload of media you choose for ordinary local conversion. AI generation uses the separate server and provider process described above.
Cookies & local storage
We use browser local storage for your sign-in session (via Supabase). No advertising cookies are set.
Processors we rely on
Supabase (authentication, database, artwork storage), Stripe (payments), Railway (hosting), Cloudflare (CDN and security), and OpenAI (AI image generation). OpenAI receives AI prompts and processes generated source images when you choose that feature. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default and that standard abuse-monitoring logs may be kept for up to 30 days; see its API data controls.
Your rights
You can delete your published artwork from the Library at any time (open your piece and hit DELETE). To delete your account and associated data, or to exercise any data-protection right (access, correction, erasure, portability), contact us and we'll action it promptly.

Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update the effective date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
